We live in a society that places the highest value on “beautiful people,” and those who “fit the mold.” There are so many voices screaming at us to do what everyone else does because it’s the popular norm of our times. Lauren Alaina challenges this stereotype by encouraging the listener to go against the grain, to step outside the box, and to not be defined by what the world says we should be. To do so is risky to say the very least. How many times do we do the same old thing because it’s “safe” or “comfortable”? As we begin this first full week of the Lenten season, the SJEC encourages you to take a risk and take the road less traveled.
