Jesus is Just Alright by The Doobie Brothers

In today’s post we’re going to do a little time traveling.  Let’s briefly take a visit back to 1969 when the song “Jesus Is Just Alright” was first released by the Byrds.  The phrase “alright” during this time period meant “cool” and designated something as being good.  Amidst the first lunar landing and the Vietnam conflict there was music affirming the need for our Lord and that belief in Him was “cool”.  While rioting and discord was sweeping the nation due to the civil rights movement, God was present in pop culture through a song.  It would go on to be recorded by over nine different groups over the next 54 years.  Fast forward to the present.  Clearly, a love for the Lord has stood the test of time.  If a generation torn by war and differences can find room for Christ, surely we can do the same.
