Empty My Hands by Tenth Avenue North
I’ve often heard reconciliation referred to as “the forgotten sacrament.” I don’t think it’s forgotten as much as it is feared. For some reason, it’s just so scary to let go of our sins. Maybe because doing so means we’re not in control anymore. It seems so logical to trust in God because He is mercy itself, but it’s still uncomfortable because we don’t understand why He is that way. Perhaps we cling to our sins because at least they’re familiar territory. During this Advent, I hope to trust in God more and let Him “empty my hands” of everything I think I have to hold on to.
