Our Director


Matthew Halbach

Mr. Halbach is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Religious Education and Catechetics at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. His dissertation focuses on the historical evolution of the concepts of evangelization and catechesis, from Vatican II to the present, with an aim to proposing a “New Catechesis” for the New Evangelization. He received his M.A. in Theology from Franciscan University in 2006, and his B.A. in Economics from the University of Iowa in 2001.

Halbach’s recent teaching experience includes undergraduate courses in theology and religious education at The Catholic University of America, where he was a teaching fellow for two years.

His past ministry experience includes working  in Iowa, Oklahoma, and Maryland for a combined total of ten years: six years were spent as an adult faith formation director and four years as a youth and young adult ministry coordinator.

Mr. Halbach and his wife, Stacy, have three sons, Michael, Benjamin and Joseph. He is originally from Ankeny, and grew up in Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart parish.
